MARY EK PARENT COACH

“My two pregnancies were unusual, high-risk, and 11 years apart, which made my early experiences with each of my daughters nerve-wracking and downright scary. My attempts to comfort and nurse my beautiful babies were complicated by high levels of external stress and internal anxieties.
As I made my way through the breastfeeding and pumping experience, Mary Ek’s quiet voice of reason was a desperately needed hum in a cacophony of well-meant advice. Each step of my wobbly attempts to nurse and pump were steadied by the non-judgmental influence of Mary’s guidance. Through each choice, each chart, each struggle, Mary brought unequivocal certainty and a myriad of ideas, informed both by her powerful personal experience and by her years of education and training. And when I ultimately chose to bottle feed – the right choice for me, my body, and my family – Mary’s was one of the few voices offering complete support and acceptance.
Mary is the ultimate guide and mentor for new mothers and families finding their way through what can be a uniquely challenging experience that is too often isolating and unguided. I can’t recommend her enough.”
“I had my first and only child in August 2014, following 3 consecutive miscarriages, where the doctors said I just had “bad luck”. Needless to say, my husband and I were overjoyed after finally having a healthy, baby boy. However, with all the focus being on a healthy pregnancy, we quickly realized I may have not focused enough attention on post pregnancy and everything that comes along with it in terms of baby care, breast feeding, motherhood, self-care, etc.
I turned to Mary for immediate guidance and she provided me with the emotional and physical skills and preparation for each phase of babyhood and motherhood. Until then, I had read countless books and spoke to numerous doctors, who gave me the general outline of “what to expect” along the way, but none of them provided me with the intimate firsthand knowledge that Mary did. Knowing Mary is raising 6 children, and knowing she had experienced a miscarriage, made her the perfect choice to spend time with me- hands down. She traveled to our home and didn’t impose “her way” upon us. Rather, Mary used her experience, qualifications and expertise to help us develop OUR own ways of parenting that worked for OUR family. She helped us understand baby needs as well as parenting needs. Mary has been a coach and mentor in my life and has been a lifesaver to our family in so many ways. I recommend her to any family without hesitation.”
Mary is simply amazing. She has been a supporter, teacher, confidant and champion for me with all three of my children. From late night frantic calls about breastfeeding and babies failing to latch, to first fevers and sleepless nights, Mary has been a force- yet voice of reason, always calm. Providing supportive tips and even just a listening ear, Mary has guided me - and my family - through tender moments, and done so with grace and the gentle hands that new parents crave. Our success as a family is in large part due to the guidance, support and confidence that Mary relentlessly gave us. Her commitment and skills are one-of-a-kind.
